Low current consumption and Solid State Disk on PC/104-Plus:
The Cool RoadRunner-Atom with Intel N270 processor
LiPPERT Embedded Computers presents a new processor board using the Intel Atom. With 1.6 GHz, up to 2 GB RAM and 2 GB Solid State Disk, the board is particularly suitable for mobile embedded systems with lowest power consumption.
With the Cool RoadRunner-Atom, LiPPERT presents a PC/104-Plus board with very low power requirements. The used Intel Atom N270 processor is clocked at 1.6 GHz supports Hyper-Threading and features a thermal design power (TDP) of just 2.5 watts. The board can be equipped with a maximum of 2 GB soldered down DDR2 RAM.

An on-board, large 2 GB solid state disk can be used to build systems without moving parts. Two SATA ports allow connection of conventional hard disks.
A GMA950 graphics controller is integrated in the northbridge 945GSE and supports 3D rendering, which significantly speeds up graphically intensive applications. Displays with up to 2048x1536 pixels can be connected via VGA or LVDS interfaces.
The Cool RoadRunner-Atom provides applications with a range of interfaces. There is Gigabit LAN, eight USB2.0 host ports and two flexibly for RS232, RS422 or RS485 configurable serial interfaces.
The board's total power consumption is just about 5 watts. The Cool RoadRunner-Atom is available for operation in the industrial temperature range of -20°C…+60°C. Optionally available are variants, qualified for the extended temperature range of -40°C…+85°C.
The Cool RoadRunner-Atom comes with LiPPERT Enhanced Management Technlogy (LEMT). Its functions are implemented using an integrated micro controller. Among them is housekeeping work like power sequencing, as well as utility functions for the application software, for instance write/delete protected flash memory and various state counters, usable for condition monitoring.
The Cool RoadRunner-Atom runs Windows XP, XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, and QNX.
