First CoreExpress™ module introduced ...a tiny lightweight! The first module to implement the CoreExpress™ specification is the brand-new CoreExpress™-ECO. It is the world's first board with Intel's Silverthorne processor and the Poulsbo chipset, formerly codenamed Menlow.
Due to its 45nm technology, this chipset uses only very little power while running at clock frequencies as high as 1.5 GHz. The module implements the basic CoreExpress™ specification and comes with 1 GB RAM, digital panel connections, and HD audio. Peripherals can be connected using PCI Express lanes, several USB 2.0 ports, IDE, or SDIO/MMC interfaces. The module requires only a small heat sink, which doubles as EMC protection as well, making system integration a snap. The CoreExpress™-Eco will be qualified for both, the standard and extended temperature range of -40°C...+85°C. There is an own microcontroller on board, adding highly interesting features like 128 bit security key, counting of operating hours, and temperature recording. Additionally, it handles flash memory for the application and manufacturing data, as well as support for Fail-Safe-BIOS functions.
