In times where individual traffic is increasing, intelligent traffic control systems become more and more important.

Many big cities have installed intelligent parking systems, collecting information about which parking lot or garage has space left and which one is occupied. This information, calculated by a suitably configured computing system,

is displayed on several signposts all over town. Information is transmitted between parking garages and signposts using fieldbus systems, private LAN infrastructure, or wireless networks.

Other traffic applications are on-board systems of trains or airplanes, controlled by an embedded PC and supplying the passengers with information about the remaining time of the journey, connecting trains and, of course, the menu of the dining car displayed on every seat. Because of the compactness and the supported user interfaces of LiPPERT systems, enhancing such seat systems to an electronic gaming station would be possible.

Baggage transport systems of large airports need high intelligence to get the baggage in right time to the right place. High speed PCs like the LiPPERT systems, connected with fieldbus wiring, keep track of every item as it is on its way.
