On a user-friendly screen, maybe a touch-screen, different information can be browsed. The user has only a few possibilities to influence the system, as there are only predefined functions selectable, for example, out of a selection tree. The software allows no manipulation of the configuration by the user because there are no general input devices that might be used for hacking into the system.

Further, the displayed information is easy to understand, that even unexperienced people can understand how to operate the system.

An additional issue for these devices are the various climatic conditions they are subjected to. Points of information often are put up outside a building, for example as a traveler’s guide. In summer time it can be very hot, and in winter, it must withstand deep temperatures.

As a further complication, in some countries there is an average humidity of around 80% and in desert environments only about 20%. LiPPERT has components especially designed for those wide climatic conditions. With the optionally available specifications in the military temperature range even operation in arctic regions is possible.
